Ramblings 6

You know what makes me realize I am successful and that I should continue doing what I do?
The fact that I have made so many enemies and frenemies that I have lost track of all my haters.

They say that if you haven't made enemies you haven't stood up for anything, if you don't have enemies means you never did anything worthwhile and that the true measure of success is how many people you pissed off and made enemies of to reach the top!

By that token I have done so much more than I originally set out to do that the only thing I can think of is to encourage my haters to make an issue out of everything they think I do, it will only propel my success ever higher! :D

This is most apparent when I have to do certain things in the public forum to appease said haters to prevent them doing damage to the still infancy stages of something I love.

To those who don't understand this outburst, please note that this is generic to all aspects of my life how ever, it is specially heartfelt in terms of my martial arts endeavor.

Toodles !!

Haitus Oppression

Hey everyone,

I know that my posts are sporadic and my last post was almost a year ago.
Simply put I had things to work out in life.
I had to suppress writing altogether.

But I find I cannot suppress writing much longer.
It may be tedious and not necessarily of top quality but it is something better than nothing.

I do not know about other writers but writing for me is like a drain. For example in those weird Japanese anime, a character would write something down and it would be erased from it's memory. Similarly writing soothes the inner storm and erases the thing that is being written about.

ANY WAY.

I wanted to say I have suppressed the urge to write for far too long and that I shall resume posting again.

I will try to stick to a schedule ... I will work one out in the next couple of weeks ... lets see :D

Thoughts on Work

<RANT>

Are you Jobless/unemployed?

Everyone I speak to when they are giving me advice for job applications inevitably says one thing: More focus, more direction.

What do they really mean by this?

It seems that the meaning behind this harmless and general advice is this: Find out what position (such as CEO, etc) you want to be, and then become a one-track mindless drone attempting to achieve that goal or die trying. Meanwhile do not dare to look at the big picture, or standard of living or anything else.
Example, a person we shall name A wants to be a physicist. Then the expectation found amongst people I am writing this against is that A will spend hours on end reading physics and will eat, sleep, breathe, think and shit physics with no room for anything else except social skills and a basic working general knowledge focusing on current affairs.

This type of one track mind does not work for me. My field is not my one and only reason to continue breathing the polluted air. I have varied interests and passions which are equally strong. The only thing that sets my career above others is the earning factor. Finances dictate that.

However it does not mean that one should conform to society and become a mindless drone just to get a job and then stay in it till retirement. Why should one? Why can one not broaden their horizons, and work on all their goals simultaneously? Simply because society demands that one should be a Master of a single trade? Simply because society fears ‘Jack of all’ trades? Why can one not be multi-disciplinary (example a chemical mechanical sustainability renewable energy engineer poet martial artist philosopher blogger in one, all in equal measure)? Why can one not be just above average in several trades rather than being a master of one and zilch in the rest?

This fear of different that the society holds so dear has strangled the rise of ‘polymaths’ (read people who were close to masters of several sciences and arts simultaneously). Today I have seen several people deny the very concept of polymaths claiming that any field is now so large that no one could possibly be a polymath, but don’t they realize the basic principles of any field are the same regardless the increment in detail.

So why does one have to conform to being a mindless drone targeted in a single direction? Why does one have to sell their interests, passions, mind, body and soul to land a job which doesn’t pay well and instead mires one all sorts of ill-health?

Over time, I have known people who started out their 9am-5pm perfectly well and according to the contract. In the end one and all ended up working at least 14 hours a day thanks to mobile phones and now smart phones. They work from the moment they are awake till the moment they fall asleep exhausted. They no longer have more than a handful of hours every week to spend with family. Family emergencies are understood and time off given, but frowned up on due to ‘all that time spent not working’. Even considering 2 hours a day of socializing on facebook and other social media, this lack of time for self and lack of face time with people is hindering the natural health and order of everyone. Sitting for long hours as is required in the modern world for work is not natural for the human body and hence so many diseases have been conclusively linked to it in one way or another.

But to jump to the end as I can’t type very long while hanging upside down. Why does one have to be a mindless single direction drone just to be able to land a job? Why can’t one be creative and combine all their interests when and as they require to do a task when one does land a job?

Personally I feel suffocated with the need of the industry to smother all my other things and focus only on one! It seems my role model has become Phunsukh Wangdu from 3 Idiots an engineering genius who wanted to liberate knowledge from the stranglehold of the world trying to win a race it is running alone towards its own death. The other inspiring person would be Kaveh who is a musician, an electrical engineer, a thinker and a sustainability & renewable energy engineer. And Elyas who is a civil engineer, a philosopher, a potential scholar in some religious matters and a thinker. They do not just exist in life, they live it!

Which is better for efficiency: Retrofit or Behaviour Change

This blog post is about the article published on greentechmedia.com

In my opinion behaviour change comes from a change in mind set and has far reaching effects in the long term. Efficient Retrofits while on the one hand provide a measure of 'green-ness' to our lives also have the disadvantage of delaying the change in mind set required for behaviour change to shift towards more sustainable lifestyles. Be they individual or an organisation. It is a balance of providing efficient retrofits as a reward for behaviour and mind set change that will have the most significant impact on our energy consumption.

What do you think?

Future of the Environment

This article was not published when it was sent to various publications. Could it be that despite it being an opinion (and stated as such), it was far too true for them to dare to publish?

You be the judge.

Views expressed herein are liable to change and amendment on basis of personal growth and development as well as proven facts supporting or rejecting stated opinions. Freedom of speech (that is the freedom to say, write, draw or video any opinions and proven facts) is considered of prime importance. Opposing opinions are accepted only in the form of constructive criticism or dialogue.

Future of the environment

This particular post is beginning with a lot of assumptions because at the moment the author cannot be bothered to explain the reasons behind them. However most of these assumptions are based on publically accepted theories and some proven facts for which no initiating reference can be found at this time.

Assumptions:
· The older generations are greedy and indulged themselves expediting the destruction of the environment.
· The older generation preaches about harmonising with nature
· The older generation are all about self-indulgence and suffer from an ever intensifying inferiority complex and have to generate profits at all costs in compensation for their lack of brains and metaphoric balls.

Why should we care about the future of the environment?

Everyone who has ever studied Chemistry at A-levels (I know it is now called GCEs or something but I am much older than the “post-modern” generation but not as old as the generation I am blaming) will easily recognise this simple rule:

“The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.” – Mrs Poonam Mahindra (As taught to me by my chemistry teacher at the time).

Well it can be said that this stands true for life in general but most particularly for the one thing that man has replaced god (or any divinity/ies) with: Money. Due to this worship of money the rich keep finding ways to keep the poor, poorer while they gorge on the cash they generate. For the rich believe that it is a Darwinian world: Survival of the fittest (in terms of adaptability and cleverness). To a certain extent they are not wrong however they take it to such an extreme that in fact they should be called extremists with ulterior motives and hidden agendas.

Allow me to elaborate with a very oblique example. The developed first world nations are mostly considered the rich nations therefore henceforth they will be referred to as the rich while other lowly territories will be considered the opposite of rich for the sake of demonstration in this article. The rich nations suck fossil fuels from all over the world (mainly that one region which they are terrified of or so their media portrays the region). The rich led the industrial revolution and pumped (probably) billions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere creating holes in the protective O-zone layer. Eventually they realised their mistake, but rather than solve the problem they decided to cover it up like immature kids. They now have 2 scientific communities each opposing the other. One says global warming is happening despite the natural sinusoidal climate change (because global warming is occurring exponentially faster than natural and even without it the weather would have been shifting to prepare for another ice age).  The other says global warming is nonsense and that we should carry on as is (mostly the greedy people in need of larger profits to attempt compensating for the lack of sex they have with their significant others probably).

Returning to the point; the rich consume the largest amount of fossil fuels while releasing the highest amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, yet they preach the development of renewable technologies. This is a two pronged attack by the older generation of the rich: a) this way they can develop a system to be self-sufficient (and possibly export energy to the not rich at exorbitant prices) and b) it provides them a way of continuing their rampage of greed and self-indulgence.

They don’t care about the environment and it is evident in the fact that the rich preach a lot about the renewable technologies and are even developing them as this is being written but they don’t share a single piece of advanced technology with the not-rich if it is not profitable. That is the net outcome despite supposedly large efforts of charity work and service for the not-rich by the rich who on some level need something to keep themselves busy. Thus the overall effect is that of hubris and vice by the rich as if they are the divine (maybe that is how the Greek, Norse, etc. mythological pantheons came into being!).

It seems like the rich although highly capable of changing the world around are too proud for the task, talking the talk but not walking the line whereas, walking the walk would earn them the true respect of the not-rich which is unlike the respect born of fear and loathing due to exploitation and invasion. As a very “environmentally friendly” friend of mine once said: “They rape and rape and rape the earth without worry or even thought of consequence. Then they rape the planet some more just to make sure that is has been raped. If they forget that they have done the deed, they rape the poor planet another time for reassurance.” (I am omitting most of the colourful language for my sake). This friend loves grass and believes it helps him grow brain cells but that is a different topic altogether.

Even from a humanitarian standpoint, this is our only habitable piece of rock in the entire universe (and some would like to add “at the moment”, but my argument stands even then). The question then becomes simply why should we the younger generation to whom the whole environmentalism is preached (particularly of the not-rich places) not follow in the esteemed footsteps of the older generation who destroyed it in the first place and now refuse to do anything about it besides passing it on (particularly those from the rich places)?

At the moment it is the humble opinion of this author that if the entirety of knowledge and information was shared equally and globally in a completely transparent and truthful manner, then we could potentially reduce the accelerated pace of global warming to a level closer to that of the natural construct. [The first bit of knowledge that should be destroyed by spamming the world is that of weapons simply because by disseminating and making a piece of information public it’s value is decreased to less than zero thereby reducing any harm from it.]

Ramblings 5

In a place that despite being home continually frustrates me. Rolling black outs, people living by plugging corruption (bribery, vandalism, hooliganism, gangs, etc)  into their veins as if it was air, water, caffeine or something. Continuous outage of internet, spontaneous jamming of landlines and/or mobile(cellular) networks and perpetual hacking of phones with near absolute lack of privacy thanks to marauders, robbers, thugs, etc hacking all forms of communication.

That is the least of the worries. There is complete lack of civic and common sense on the roads. Signals/Traffic lights, are considered decoration pieces. There is no concept of lanes or safety. If you are a wadera (please google the meaning by yourself) then you have right of way and if anyone attempts to stand up for common sense or justice or law and order then they or their families are killed, tortured or imprisoned or any combination and sequence of all three.

But this horrendous place filled with so much chaos which is spiralling down the drain into absolute anarchy is my home. No place else would accept me simply because I belong from here. Then again even if some other place did, after this Trail of Fire anything would be considered languid, morose, dull, etc.

Regardless this is home and this is where I am stuck. There were those that wanted me to return and of them only half remain. The other half have passed on to a better place. The remaining half still cannot believe that I would leave behind this morbid anarchy to find peace.

No matter the plans or thoughts or empty threats. Here I remain. Escape has only three possibilities: a miracle or the time when I am not awake or a very very long sleep.

PS. The anarchy beckons awake the monster that is kept chained. A small slip and this murky place will regret the morbid insanity let lose

And Backish

Been a while.
So there might be some posts at lease while I am not too busy ...

Jiu-Jitsu Spirit in Jeans

So those who dont know and those who do, my enthusiasm with jiu-jitsu just might have hit a new high :P

I find this highly entertaining and think that it has great potential :D

warning: the sound quality is not so nice, the mic was broken.

also please feed my poor fishes .. they are hungry .. as always .. almost like me ... :D

Also I must say that although it took me some experimenting to "discover" the super lock variation, it was Rener Gracie's amazing tutorial video (Rener Gracie on How to the Belt) that prompted me to make one of my own.

Existential Crisis

Chaplain/Rabbi/Priest/Imam

No I dont have a midlife crisis yet.

But I have another problem. Had I not spoken with family members I would not have realised that I had a problem.
I have reach just one conclusion about this problem though, particularly after a family member shed some serious light on the matter without him intending to put me in such a reflective mood. Nonetheless it has made me pensieve and the way that I am it is natural for me to annonce to the world.

So lets begin at the beginning. After some careful thought I have realised that I stopped producing heartfelt deep and intense (no matter how morbid) poetry when I realised that I would soon be losing a pillar of my life and half the shade of my world. Once the pillar crumbled I think and this is my conclusion, that it buried under it a part of me that would encourage me to invest in emotionally in everything from relationships to sports to studies .. to everything. But once that part did get burried, it left me completely indifferent and synical.

How I see the crumbling of the Pillar.

Day by day I turn more into Dr. House's synical self (no unfortunately not the genius side). The scary part is that despite acknowledging the problem and accepting, I am still indifferent to it. They say that acknowledging and accepting a problem is the first step towards a solution, thing is a part of me doesnt care the remainder doesnt want to care anymore.

Its altogether different ball game when I used to wish that I would become the type of skilled genius and indifferent monster that I still look up to ... unfortunately for the world that mentor is actually just a fictional character. But now that I am a step closer, I seem to have given up on the caring part.

Shura/Chaos - The indifferent monster Yakumo Mutsu

True that there have been quite a few things in my life to set me on this path, but had my thought pattern been different I might have actually been the content self that I put on every morning I wake up.

No longer do I dream of ruling the martial arts world, nor of becoming a foremost professional in my field. No my dreams are just filled silent screams, darkness, chains and a lot of drowning.

There are times when I read some of my journal/dairy and realise I was cleverer and more intelligent even a couple years ago than I am now. Its almost like I have become a living example of Dr. Walter Bishop (fictional character from a TV series called Fringe) who lost a lot ofhis intelligence and thinking due to having part of his brain cut out by his best friend and archnemesis.

Maybe one day I might get bored enough to start searching for why I have lost interest in everyhing ...
Today is not that day.
Although a very small part of me wants to be rescued and wants to be found, thus this entry. My indifferent self has allowed to let this call for attention and a plea for help escape the confines of the morbid and macabre prison that I and my Id have built for me.

Maybe one day the moon will shine, maybe one day .....

Disciple

Till then here is something I am currently scribbling

ab dukh bhi nahin hota .. doboya mujhe ko hone ne .. na hota mein ... to kya hota ?
guzre kal ki yaad aye .. magar jab se sahara toota .. dil to kya .. rooh ko bhi tars aye
yeh mujrim hai zindagi ka .. zindagi hi iski saza .. woh fareb rehai .. aur such bolta jhoota ..
kya hdsa tha woh .. asr kar gaya is zalim pe .. kya asr tha woh .. dil tor gaya is ashiq ka ....

Some poetry

To some this may seem arrogant, to other this will be like an epic marketing idea.

GO SEE MY POETRY

Comment if you like or don't like. Constructive criticism is encouraged and accepted. But if you want to troll I will ignore you

Speedy Jiu Jitsu

Ok so this is what my sensei has asked of his students (and students all over UK) to do at the Atemi Nationals competition. I don't think any one of us is this capable. But I know I can try. I accomplished this twice before. Now you guys have to wish me luck for the next time.

Tranquility by AndreeWallin

One day maybe in this life or the next, I might have a place lie this in a Dagoba (Star Wars) like system. A monastery resembling a Japanese bushido practitioner's sanctum. Built for the soul, mind and heart. In that order. To increase the spirituality, intellect and passion. In that order.

But till then I can come back and look at images like Tranquility by AndreeWallin at deviantart and hope. :D

Some random updates

The following few are going to be a few pictures that I really liked.
Of course they are all thanks to their creators!

The first: Acceleration by genesisa at deviantart.

This shows some really futuristic vehicle in a race. To be honest this type of machinery is possible but its not economically viable at the moment. Which is why we dont see this marvellous design becoming a common object yet!

The second: Amalur - The Gnomes by gorrem at deviantart.

Every single time I look at it, it reminds me of my sibling and I. The sibling as the artist/magician. The engineer/builder would be yours truly! :D

The third: Gotta Hide by BlaCkCentuRies at deviantart.

This one is just to illustrate that even if there were 2 of me and I had all the expertise in the world, my sibling would still kick my ass without breaking a sweat.

The fourth: S8 by THE-LM7 at deviantart.

A picture that sort of fits the dream I had last night. You see I have recently read Delilah Dirk. And was thinking what would happen if instead of guns she had Luffy's hat (One Piece) and Miyamoto Musashi's (the legendary Japanese samurai) two swords. The resulting character would of course kick ass, but this picture also shows she is far too blade happy (read trigger happy with swords and dynamite as favourite weapon of choice of Delilah Dirk) ....

The Dream Study - Almost

I wish my study would look like this or similar in terms of the number of large books and writing material and funky collections. True I prefer it to be neater so it easier to locate things in emergency situations but all the rest of the components of this study, I wish were also components of my study!

Maybe in the next lifetime ...

I wouldn't mind if someone helped me out to build such a magnificent study for myself and them. Simply because if someone assisted in such a majestic thing then I would be obliged to share willingly.

Ramblings 4

Let the Hamster speak:
*squeak squeak squeak*
(Hamsters exits stage left)

There is quite a lot on my mind that I would like to share. Even more that I would rather not share. But I am here just to revive my blog. To see if I am finally ready to resume writing.

April 2010 was not a good time for me. I lost a part of myself. A very integral part. A caring, kind, passionate, loving, pure, clever, smart, intelligent, adorable, shy, warm, (insert all the superlatives of all the positive adjectives), part of me. One that I will never forget. A part that drove me like nothing else does. A part that made me who I am today. All this time I had locked up that grief and loss deep inside of me.

I spent a long time being very harsh to everyone immediately after the incident. Then like a crowbar my mother forcibly pried open my armadillo shell using the only chink in my armour. I don't think even she realised how bad she made me feel about how rude I had become. I don't think she ever will.

Things returned to an apparent normality. My job kept me busy and when I was not working my limited interactions with human beings kept me docile to the untrained eye. A year went by and life along with time kept moving on. I never let myself the time to embrace my darkest sorrow yet in life. There was so much more to be happy about. So much more that needed to be done. I learned quite a few valuable lessons about facades, masks, illusions, shells, ego, id and all the psychological stuff that goes with it. True I am not an expert but I learnt enough to start manipulating things around me. All it would take was a nudge. The only requirement. But it didn't mean I would get the results I wanted. I learned to work with that as well.

Then I fell in love with my best friend. Life seemed to be taking a turn for the better, despite my pretence I was finally starting to feel emotions that I would let play in front of others. My lies were finally starting to irk my morality. My conscious self was starting to have a war with my subconscious mind. After living a lie I had become a lie. Not a word I would speak would be the truth in its entire form. Always things hidden and squared away in the corner of my mind. Yet everywhere I look they want absolute transparency. All the more reason to keep things locked up inside. Yet here I am divulging my deepest darkest inner workings to you in the form of a blog that the whole world will read.

To return to the point, just when colour had returned to my black and white life, the colour was taken from again. This trauma more than ever offset any armour I could create for myself. It was not a force from the outside trying to find a chink in my chain mail. It was a strike from within. Just as I return to my black and white world a new shade of grey seeps into it. The sorrow that I had kept shackled in an abyss burst through but not as explosively as a dam. Rather with infinitely more subtle means. A sigh here or a grunt there or even a day dream elsewhere.

This sorrow tinges my black and white world. The world I have now come to love because I have spent so much time in it anything else would be alien to me. This sorrow paints a third colour on my world: a grey hue. Unlike the ease of perception and illusion in colour this shade of grey compels me to develop a new sense of depth and perception. At times it also helps disillusion myself from the fantasies that had been portrayed for me or by me.

This grey that I kept hidden from sight is now my best friend. Maybe one day it too will abandon me. But till then its the only friend I have who remains with me even when I am among my human friends. This hue that covers me in its shade will never be forgotten. For it represents the infinite chromatics that were before it. And it will be with me when colour returns to me again, if at all.

000.001 Knowledge (secundus)

To continue where I left of in the last post:

1.5 Libre Knowledge

Literally: free knowledge. A take on those words could be to liberate knowledge from the shackles that we cast on it such as the tedious processes of being able to publish a particular piece of research (also known as discovered, revised, re-visited or re-introduced to modern society knowledge). Or just to be able to share knowledge along with information as freely as information, data and knowledge are shared on the internet. Of course I do not agree with lack of structure; however I am a proponent of a large amount of freedom for knowledge and information. True that a researcher in some corner of the world spent half his life digging up some piece of knowledge from the depths of past and present research, but once its been figured out, it eventually becomes common knowledge. The perspective that I hold firmly is that rather than letting that piece of knowledge rot in some dark abyss to reach which exorbitant amounts of money are required, float the said knowledge thereby exponentially increasing the pace of research in the relatively next round.

Going a little off topic here but quite necessarily. I would like to mention that research should not be viewed as a money-making tool. For money-making we should exploit the innovation and design sector which are both interdependent on each other as well as on research quite heavily. Research is and should be viewed a black-hole for investment from which the reward will be innovation and design in one field or another. In turn leading to production of unique products that when sold at appropriate prices will generate enormous returns. This system then should not be denied its most basic and intrinsic nature: LIBERATION OF KNOWLEDGE.

1.6 Meta Knowledge

This is an interesting topic, because with the internet now declared as a basic human right and increasing access to it even in developing nations, knowledge (meaning how, where and what to do to obtain knowledge) about knowledge is becoming increasingly widespread. Then we cast knowledge into the irons of structure such as categories such as the Dewey decimal system. Also to make it easier to sort through the knowledge all the articles, notes, passages, papers, etc are tagged with keywords. In this day and age it is not difficult to 'google' key words with enough refinement that one can find anything quite reliably and extremely swiftly. Therefore knowledge about knowledge is not the problem. In fact meta-knowledge can be said to be trying to liberate knowledge from the chains we have put it in. That at least is the way things seem to me in the current environment.

1.7 Procedural Knowledge

This is a different form of knowledge as compared to those opined up on previously. Procedural knowledge is quite specific in its nature and applies to, for lack of example, a particular task. A task can be relatively simple such as lifting a pen from the table top or it can be more complex and mad up of sub tasks further broken down into smaller jobs. Of course because not all things are standardised (such as spelling) so there are often multiple ways of completing the same task. The exact route taken depends on the person (and/or employer and /or region and/or culture/tradition/history). Therefore in the modern world there is a lot of deliberate hype about procedural knowledge (often labelled trade secrets). I understand that a particular way of doing something and carrying out a task is the key to delivering a particular quality of end product hence such high impact knowledge need not necessarily be liberated into the population at large. The only condition is that considering such knowledge as property and with-holding it from the global community should not become a barrier to development at any point. If this happens, then said knowledge should be immediately released to the public at large. As within the so called 'blind' consumers lie the dormant geniuses (genii) of tomorrow just waiting for a puzzle piece of knowledge to be released so they can present you with a solved Rubik's cube in the 7th dimention.

1.8 Self-knowledge

I really should not need to explain this to anyone. Particularly as trying to describe something so intrinsic is in itself an example of Tacit Knowledge which coincidentally is the next little section.

1.9 Tacit Knowledge

Let me begin with explicit knowledge which is knowledge that can easily be transmitted from one person to another verbally and or visually (by writing and demonstrating). Tacit knowledge is that vague little abstract bit of knowledge that can not be transmitted from one person to another. It can only be invoked. As tacit knowledge relies on an individuals inherent capability of 'making the connection' or 'connecting the dots' as it were. Language and learning a new language are examples of this kind of knowledge. While learning a new language the explicit knowledge is shared with the learner but the fluency does not arrive till the learner has immersed themselves in that particular language and its culture to understand the abstract rules of it. Like riding a bike. One can be shown how to do it and what not to do, but it only comes after grasping that intangible trick and making the connection after personal experience based on personal experimentation.

And finally:

Management of Knowledge:
1. Knowledge Acquisition:

Knowledge can only be acquired through research and experimentation. Of course there is the route of revelation but that tends to mean one is a prophet of some sort. (For obvious reasons I shall not discuss theology)

2. Knowledge Storage:

We do this everyday. We just need to do it in such a manner that the storage is structured but available to all regardless of anything. This would then be called transparency (which happens to be politically correct besides being ethically and morally correct as it would lead to minimisation of corruption, lies and deceit. Unless someone just starts a massive hoax of building massive amounts of false knowledge thereby defeating the entire purpose of development and advancement.)
Last but not least there should be LIBRARIES everywhere and they should be of any media: paper or digital or both.

3. Knowledge Retrieval

Based upon storage, knowledge should be free to be recalled at any time or place. (well almost, after all we do not want design data leaked before putting a product into commercial production or else a rival will do it before us but not of the same quality. So I guess a small amount of restriction is necessary however not as much as has been imposed upon knowledge today.)
